Job Hunting
This is my first official week on the job search. Normally I am extraordinarily social and a real ham. As I approach people to network and reach out, I find myself on the shy side for once.
A few things have stood out as I began to seek contacts and job openings. First, people are overwhelmingly willing to help. I’ve found this mostly true with soft contacts. It’s like when I was learning to play guitar: those who already knew how to play were so excited to show me the right way.
This is similar to what I’m going through now. Everyone I have reached out to has responded and been willing to talk with me. These little wins go a long way in making me feel more confident.
Another thing that has stood out is how differently my career coach approaches finding a job. I assumed I’d just be filling out application after application. But, as I’ve learned, the process is more about networking. Gotta network to get work baby!
I’m hoping to improve in this process as I continue. It’s a new skill.
Along the way, I’m making more time than ever to code and stay sharp. I need to be ready at any moment for a technical interview.
With regards to React, I feel very comfortable. Learning advanced concepts now and I’m growing into my role as a junior developer. Just need a chance. All it takes is one.
I’m beyond ready to hit the ground running, and take on the next step in my new career.
